After an astonishing series rout by New Zealand, India’s captain Rohit Sharma said unjustifiable assumption was being placed on bleeding edge spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, as he called for more aggregate bowling endeavors to win test matches.
Rohit’s side lost the initial match in Bengaluru by eight wickets and tumbled to a 113-run rout in Pune on Saturday as the Dark Covers praised their lady test series win in India.
Ashwin and Jadeja played key parts in assisting India with winning 18 progressive home series starting around 2012 yet couldn’t keep the travelers from snapping that record, asserting just eight wickets together in the second game where the pitched helped turn.
“There’s an excess of assumption on those two people. Each game they play, they are supposed to take wickets, they are supposed to go through the group and they are supposed to win tests,” Rohit told journalists.
“I don’t believe that is fair, it’s the obligation of us all to ensure we get test wins, in addition to the two people.
“Obviously, by all accounts, they know where they stand and what they haven’t had the option to do or what they haven’t done all around well.”
Rohit said the couple were permitted to have awful games every once in a while and he was not stressed over their new structure.
“The two of them have played such a lot of cricket here and have such colossal commitments to our outcome of having that home dash of 18 series wins. These two play had a significant impact in that,” Rohit added.
Two or three series, I won’t investigate excessively, particularly with those two people … At times they’re permitted to have awful games to a great extent, and not go by that assumption that this is the potential chance to go through the resistance.
“That won’t occur like clockwork. So you must be prepared with different folks to step in.”
The series finale happens in Mumbai from Friday, before India head to Australia for a five-match series.
